We are looking for a Head of Primary School for an international school in Wuhan. This position is available from the upcoming 2026–27 academic year in August, 2026.
About the school
Located in Wuhan, this international and bilingual school offers an innovative, high expectations curriculum in a modern campus with spacious classrooms, gymnasiums, multiple performance spaces, science labs, a swimming pool, and student dorms. It currently serves over 400 students in grades PreK to 9 and will expand annually toward a capacity of 1,800 students in grades PreK to 12. From middle school onward, students engage in advanced coursework that builds strong foundations in core subjects and prepares them for honors and Advanced Placement pathways beginning in ninth grade, while the school also emphasizes embracing Chinese culture and creating a supportive environment for both students and faculty.
About the role
The Head of Primary Programs is responsible for building and leading student support systems that drive strong academic outcomes in the primary school. With high expectations for student growth and a commitment to inclusive success, this role uses a data informed approach to identify student needs, design targeted programs, and ensure resources are effectively aligned to support both learning and wellbeing. As well as:
- Coordinate primary academic support programs that help students with social integration in and out of the classroom - Coach teachers on child development and best practice strategies - Establish clear procedures for serious or extreme behavior incidents - Monitor and support consistent, timely parent communication - Help manage parent expectations through proactive guidance and structured processes - Develop procedures for collecting and organizing substitute plans - Support the recruitment of Teachers and Teaching Fellows for substitute coverage in coordination with the Curriculum Coordinator
Job requirements
- Bachelor's Degree, Master's preferred - 3-5 years’ experience in an educational setting - Administrative experience in an educational setting preferred
